READ Matthew 25:31-46 – 31 ‘When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, he will sit on his glorious throne. 32 All the nations will be gathered before him, and he will separate the people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. 33 He will put the sheep on his right and the goats on his left. 34 ‘Then the King will say to those on his right, “Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. 35 For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, 36 I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was ill and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.” 37 ‘Then the righteous will answer him, “Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? 38 When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? 39 When did we see you ill or in prison and go to visit you?” 40 ‘The King will reply, “Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.” 41 ‘Then he will say to those on his left, “Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. 42 For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink, 43 I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was ill and in prison and you did not look after me.”44 ‘They also will answer, “Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or ill or in prison, and did not help you?” 45 ‘He will reply, “Truly I tell you, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.” 46 ‘Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life.’
REFLECT: The Bible makes it clear that one day there will be a day of judgement and Jesus spoke regularly about this day. Our reading today says ‘when’ the Son of Man comes not ‘if’ he comes! In other wordsthere will be a final day of judgement for all people. We have the image here in this reading of all the nations gathered before the throne of Godand people being separated into believers (sheep) and non-believers (goats). It is interesting in this world that there are many people who believe in certain things whilst other people seem to be either complete non-believers or want proof! Climate change is certainly something that has its believers and non-believers. Sadly there seems to be some people that are blind to what others can see. We have all seen on the Televisionpeople speaking around the world who believe that Covid-19 is a hoax or some sort of elaborate conspiracy.
Do you believe there will be a final judgement for all people? Jesus himself spoke about it often as did the Christians in the early church. Our belief and faith in God is not something that we should be keeping to ourselves. Our faith should direct the way we live, the decisions we make, how we treat other people what we do with our time our talents and our money. The challenge that comes in this passage from Jesus himself is that when we feed and clothe and befriend someone and visit those that are ill or in need or in prison we do it for Him! V40 “Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.”
RESPOND: Take some time to read this passage and let the words and the images that it contains speak to your heart and mind. Are you ready to stand before God and answer how you have lived your life and what you have put your trust in? It is a sobering thought to believe that there will be a day of Judgement. The most important question though, is will you be ready? Are you a believer or a non-believer? Charles Spurgeon put it beautifully when he said: There is the sun; I do not know how many thousands of times the sun is bigger than the earth, and yet the sun can come into a little room. And what is more, the sun can get in through a chink. So Christ can come in through a little faith, a mere chink of confidence.
PRAY: Lord God, Help me with my unbelief. Help me to trust you and follow you every day, help me to live my life for you and use me to bring others to your Kingdom. Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Evening Prayer–From next Sunday, the Readers will be hosting a weekly service of Evening Prayer on Zoom.
During lockdown, we have not been able to enjoy Evening Prayer which for many of us was a wonderful way to end a Sunday. Even when we were able to open for morning services, due to the Covid security measures, we were unable to offer an evening service. A number of us are enjoying Morning Prayer via Zoom on a Monday and Friday mornings which Helen introduced when she joined us.
Using the Zoom facility, the Readers have agreed to host Evening Prayer each Sunday @ 6.00pm beginning next Sunday (Advent Sunday) 29thNovember. The liturgy and the readings will all appear on the screen and there will be a short reflection on the New Testament passage which has been set for the day.

Ordinand to start at All Saints – Adeyinka Olushonde – Adeyinka is currently studying at St Mellitus College in our Diocese as an Ordinand. He will be starting a 3 year placement with us this month.

At this time of increased restrictions affecting who we can be with and where we can go we can feel increasingly isolated. NEW – FELLOWSHIP GROUP – It has been difficult to connect with other members of the church family during these challenging times. The national guidelines encourage us not to stay and talk when attending church, masks make it difficult to see and hear each other and small group meetings in homes are not allowed. One of the ways some small groups have found helpful to connect is via zoom. If you are not part of a small group and would like to get to know other members of the church please consider joining one of the new Fellowship Groups.
The aim is to grow in faith and friendship with a small group of people using zoom. The first group will be held at 8pm every Monday, commencing 30th November. If you would like to take part please contact Mary Harrison by Thursday 26th November. mary.harrison32@virginmedia.com

Deanery 24-7 Advent PRAYER
During the first week in December, Liverpool South Deanery will be contributing to the 24-7 prayer movement. We will be praying for the Light of Christ to impact our world. The main focus is to welcome the Presence of God into our lives in worship. We aim to do this by praying continuously, as a community, for a whole week. If you can spare half an hour, between 29th and November and the 6th of December, please sign up to cover a slot. Unfortunately, we cannot meet in person to pray together, however, there is no limit to the number of people who can sign up for each slot. Pray alone, pray as a household, join a friend on the phone or gather as a group on Zoom. Christingle is traditionally one of our best-attended services and we are not going to let the fact that we can’t gather in person stop us celebrating Jesus Christ as the Light of the World! Sign up early to receive your free Christingle pack, with everything you need to make your Christingles at home. Just add an orange!
