BOOKWORMS
Our last meeting at the beginning of the month was well attended and most people
had enjoyed their reread (or first time read) of A Christmas Carol.
Our next meeting is on Monday April 3rd at 7.30pm in the Childwall Abbey.
The book we are reading is The Help by Kathryn Stockett. Set in Jackson, USA in the
60s when many middle class white American households employed African American women to ‘help’. I read and enjoyed this book a few years ago and I have also seen the film on tv. If you would like to, do come and join us. Val Yates
Fairtrade Fortnight Monday February 27th – Sunday, March 12th 2023
Fairtrade Fortnight is an ideal opportunity to look for the Fairtrade symbol when we shop. It indicates that the bananas, chocolate, tea & coffee and other food items including flowers & some of the cotton clothes that we buy are all produced from crops that have been grown by farmers who have been paid a decent wage for their hard work. It means that they have not been exploited & their families benefit by enabling them to afford to send their children to school & that they have a better standard of living.
Many supermarkets stock Fairtrade items & most chocolate manufacturers use cocoa beans that have been bought from Fairtrade cooperatives to make their chocolate goods. With Mother’s Day & Easter coming up look for the Fairtrade symbol when you buy the chocolates, flowers & Easter eggs. With our support we are helping to improve the quality of life for others in many countries in the world.
Many thanks World Mission Area
Easter Egg Appeal
We are once again participating in the Liverpool Homeless Football Club’s Easter Egg appeal. Last year we broke all records by collecting over 250 Eggs. Eggs which are collected are distributed to children in temporary accommodation and domestic abuse refuges.
We know that many people are experiencing difficulties due to the cost of living situation but if you can help we would be very grateful.
Eggs can be left at the back of Church. Thank you, Garry and Barbara Critchley
CHURCH OPENING
Following the successful Heritage Open Day events of the last few years the PCC has agreed that the Church should be open for visitors on Sunday afternoons from 2-4pm from June to September. To enable this to happen we need 2 volunteers to welcome people each week.
If you would like to be involved in this ministry please put your name on the list at the back of church. Thank you Garry Critchley
Pew Bags – Thank You
Thanks to all who have helped to prepare the pew Bags by sewing, knitting or printing. They have been very well received. If you would be willing to replenish the bags after either of the morning services please speak to me or ring me on 07542565534. This only involves replacing colouring sheets in the bags that have been used. Thanks Barbara
VESTRY HOUR – every Tuesday in Church from 7pm – 8pm
To book a Baptism or a Wedding or speak to a member of the clergy, please come to Vestry Hour which is held in the church every Tuesday, no appointment is necessary. Please use the wooden door to the left of the tower. You do not need to knock; just come in, take a seat and you will be seen privately in turn.
Prayer Partners
I will be giving out or delivering a card and letter to all Prayer Partners in the next few weeks. Please read it carefully and respond. Thank you for taking part in this ministry. I look forward to hearing from you.
Sue Watterson, Prayer Partner coordinator. 07707901279
Information: Prayer Partners is a prayer ministry in All Saints. People who are Prayer Partners are matched up with, and pray for a particular key person or ministry or organisation. This is so that all areas in our church are covered in prayer both through the church prayer diary and each prayer partner. Enquiries are welcome.
